Hogan Lovells partners named as ‘All-Stars’

Hogan Lovells partners J Warren Gorrell Jr, Paul Joukador, Kevin Lipson, Steven McEwan, Charles Rix and Robert Robertson have been listed as All-Stars in the 2014 BTI Client Services All-Star report.

Hogan Lovells was among a group of only eight law firms with six or more Client Service All-Stars among their ranks.

The report surveys general counsel from large and Fortune 1000 companies to identify the lawyers who display extraordinary client service. The 2014 BTI Client Services All-Star report is based solely on client feedback.

Gorrell is co-chief executive officer of Hogan Lovells and a partner in the corporate group. His practice, which is primarily transactional, covers many areas and industries, with a particular focus on REITs and the real-estate and hospitality industries. Gorrell advises publicly and privately held companies, investment banks and funds on mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, joint ventures and general business matters. Gorrell is based in Washington DC.

Joukador is a partner in the commercial law practice area, based in Hogan Lovells’ London office. His main type of work is advising on significant contracts and projects including the acquisition or disposal of key business assets, significant outsourcing arrangements, strategic alliances, services agreements and all aspects of the supply chain from procurement to manufacturing to logistics, distribution and supply arrangements. Joukador has experience in a range of industries, particularly handling cross-border arrangements.

Lipson is a partner in Hogan Lovells’ energy practice and has participated in every phase of the energy practice, including representation of clients before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the Commodities Futures Trading Commission and other federal and state regulatory authorities. Based in the firm’s Washington DC office, Lipson has resolved numerous FERC enforcement cases.

McEwan is a partner in Hogan Lovells’ financial institutions team, based in the London office. He has advised on insurance law and regulation since 2002, specialising in matters involving regulatory capital, long-term insurance, reinsurance, insurance finance and the Lloyd’s insurance market, with a particular focus on matters involving finance and prudential regulation. McEwan also advises on regulatory capital rules affecting banks and investment firms, as well as insurers, and has worked on a number of transactions involving the transfer of longevity risk by insurers and pension schemes.

Rix, based in the firm’s London office, is a partner in Hogan Lovells’ corporate group. His practice covers domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, takeovers, demergers, joint ventures and general corporate advisory work. Rix has experience of transactions in the insurance and wider financial services sector including transfers of insurance and banking business under Part VII of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 and also advises on regulatory issues affecting insurance companies.

Robertson is a partner in Hogan Lovells’ antitrust, competition and economic regulation practice. Based in Washington DC, he regularly serves as lead counsel representing clients before government agencies and federal courts. Prior to practising law at Hogan Lovells, Robertson was chief trial counsel for the Bureau of Competition of the US Federal Trade Commission and served more than 10 years as an officer in the US Marine Corps.
