Hogan Lovells advises film studio EuropaCorp on US joint venture with Relativity Media
Hogan Lovells has advised EuropaCorp on the formation of a US joint venture with Beverly Hills-based Relativity Media. EuropaCorp is a top-tier European film studio.
Under the terms of the deal, EuropaCorp will pay approximately $130m (£78m), anticipated to be paid over a six-year time frame, for a 50 per cent stake in the joint venture. Relativity will own the other 50 per cent.
Each company will exclusively use the services of the joint venture and will directly distribute its own films. Building upon the success of Relativity and EuropaCorp’s previous co-production partnership, each company will also have the opportunity to co-produce and co-finance each other’s future films under the new agreement.
The Hogan Lovells team advising EuropaCorp was led by Los Angeles corporate partner Sheri Jeffrey and included Los Angeles office managing partner Barry Dastin, New York partners Russell DaSilva and Mark Weinstein, Washington DC partner Craig Ulman, Los Angeles associates Sara Harirchian and Justin Johnson and Washington DC associate Khang Tran.
