Gateley real-estate team advises Cains Brewery on village redevelopment
The real-estate team at Gateley has advised on the proposed redevelopment for Cains Brewery Village in Liverpool.
Legal specialists from the firm’s Manchester office acted on behalf of the developer, Brewery Village, to successfully request and gain planning approval for the £150m complex.
The proposed one-million-square-foot development includes plans to build a craft brewery, a boutique hotel and a cinema. In addition, outline permission has been granted for 36,300ft² of flexible commercial space, as well as a 41,900ft² supermarket and 725 homes.
Andrew Piatt — partner at Gateley and head of the Manchester real-estate team — advised on the planning aspects of the proposal, prior to submission. Assisted by planning associate Juliette Bradbury, he then progressed the plan to approval by Liverpool City Council.
Work on Cains Brewery Village is to commence shortly, with the first phase of development expected to be completed by summer 2016. The scheme will attract roughly 2.5 million visitors to Liverpool annually and create 800 full-time jobs.
