DLA Piper's William Campbell receives 2013 Presidential Citation from the ABA
William Campbell, partner and general counsel at DLA Piper, has received a 2013 Presidential Citation from the American Bar Association (ABA) for his leadership and commitment to pro bono initiatives.
Campbell was nominated by ABA president Laurel Bellows and approved by a three-member sub-committee of ABA Board of Governors Operations Committee.
He was recognised for his contribution to the ABA’s efforts to liberalise market access for lawyers and law firms abroad; his dedication as DLA Piper’s general counsel to engage his firm in pro bono advocacy around the world; this commitment to improving access to justice and the rule of law; and his leadership in promoting gender and racial equity and mentoring associates and staff at his firm.
The ABA Presidential Citations recognise noteworthy contributions to the legal profession and the ABA and outstanding leadership qualities. No more than 10 of the citations are given each association year.
According to the ABA, citations are only given based on merit and there is no requirement that any awards be given in any particular year.
