DLA Piper wins Infrastructure Projects Team of the Year prize at The Lawyer Awards 2013
DLA Piper has been named Infrastructure Projects Team of the Year at The Lawyer Awards 2013 for its role advising Agility Trains, a Hitachi Rail Europe and John Laing Investments consortium, on a £4.5bn contract to build and maintain the new Super Express trains.
The Intercity Express Programme is the biggest privately financed passenger rolling stock deal in history and one of the largest, most ambitious and complex public-private-partnership (PPP) projects to date, creating 730 new jobs in the rail industry, 200 in construction and thousands in the supply chain.
The 40-person team was led by London head of projects Colin Wilson, with head of rail Paul Hirst and partners Kathy Sharp, Nigel Drew and Dimitri Papaefstratiou, all from the UK finance and projects team, and Koji Ishikawa from DLA Piper’s Tokyo office. They were assisted by specialist lawyers in property, employment, intellectual property and corporate.
