We have experience in a wide range of disputes, spanning from investment and commercial contracts to specific niches such as product liability or insolvency claw-back litigation. BDK takes particular pride in its international commercial and investment arbitration capability.
We have represented a number of foreign investors in arbitration disputes with the host states or other local entities arising out of privatisation, concessions, construction contracts or other specific commercial arrangements.
Besides representing clients in legal proceedings, we advise clients on the drafting of arbitration clauses and on transactional structures aimed at improving their access to desirable forum in case of dispute. We also help clients avoid dispute or mitigate its consequences by negotiating settlement arrangements.
Department head Tijana Kojović is a regular speaker at regional arbitration conferences and has published works in international journals and publications devoted to arbitration law. Kojović is a member of the presidency of the recently formed Belgrade Arbitration Centre, an independent private arbitration institution.
‘This formidable dispute resolution practice is sought after for complex litigation and arbitration cases. [It is] described as “a technically savvy team that gets the job done on time”. Tijana Kojović attracts plenty of praise from interviewees, with one describing her as “one of the finest attorneys I’ve ever worked with in or outside of Serbia. She is academically very sound, commercially sensible, fast, co-operative and a good writer. In negotiations, she’s determined and forceful but calm.”’ — Chambers Europe 2013 (Dispute Resolution)
