Conyers wins M&A Deal of the Year at IFLR Europe Awards 2014
Conyers Dill & Pearman has been honoured for its involvement in the high-profile $55bn (£33bn) TNK-BP transaction, which was named M&A Deal of the Year at the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) Europe Awards 2014.
Conyers, led by the BVI office’s Robert Briant, Anton Goldstein and Patrick Ormond, advised long-standing client AAR Consortium on the sale of its 50 per cent interest in the TNK-BP Group to Rosneft, the Russian state oil company.
The sale, which was completed in March 2013, was immediately preceded by the sale by BP of the other 50 per cent interest in the TNK-BP Group, resulting in Rosneft becoming one of the world’s largest publicly traded oil producers by output.
Conyers worked alongside Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and Weil, Gotshal & Manges on the transaction. Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, Linklaters and White & Case also advised on the matter.
The IFLR Europe Awards recognise innovation, quality and commitment to the development of legal services, with emphasis placed on complexity and market impact.
Conyers’ Briant and Goldstein accepted the award on behalf of the firm at a ceremony held in London on 3 April 2014.
