Conyers Dill & Pearman took home two honours at the recent Macallan ALB Hong Kong Law Awards for its work on the Yahoo! Inc/Alibaba buyback.
Conyers acted as Yahoo!’s Cayman Islands counsel on the privatisation of Alibaba.com and Alibaba’s buyback arrangement with Yahoo! Inc, which won in both the Equity Market Deal of the Year and M&A Deal of the Year categories.
David Lamb, a partner in Conyers’ Hong Kong office and co-chairman of the firm, led a team providing Cayman law advice to Yahoo!, working alongside US counsel Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom

Following extensive consultation in both the public and private sectors, the Exempted Limited Partnership Bill 2014 was gazetted on 21 February 2014.
The court looked at the issue of whether a stranger to a trust, who dishonestly assists in a breach of trust, is a ‘trustee’ within the meaning of s21(1)(a) of the UK Limitation Act 1980.
