BDR Waste PFI project shortlisted for Partnership award
The Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham (BDR) Waste PFI has been shortlisted for the ‘Best Waste/Energy/Water Project’ at the national Partnership Awards, in recognition of best practice in bringing one of the UK’s largest waste projects to successful completion. Walker Morris assembled a team of projects and specialist energy lawyers to advise the Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham councils, which have worked together for more than a decade to manage the waste generated in the three boroughs.
The success of the partnership was instrumental in securing £77.4m of Private Finance Initiative (PFI) funding from central government towards building a new facility that will guarantee high levels of recycling and recovery for 25 years from 2015.
The winners will be announced at an awards dinner on 23 May 2013 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.
