Avon and Somerset Police legal team selects Iken’s case management software
Avon and Somerset Police’s legal team has selected specialist case management software from Iken to replace its existing legacy system as the force gears up to deal with an anticipated increase in workload as a result of civil litigation reforms and tighter statutory timetables for employment tribunals.
With increased workload and overall budget cuts, the force’s legal team decided to replace its previous system — one more appropriate for private practice, including unnecessary billing and accountancy functionality — with a specialist case management system that complemented its existing working practices and could be quickly and easily configured to match the force’s specific needs.
Iken was chosen after a competitive evaluation.
Sue Dauncey, director of legal services at Avon and Somerset Police, said: ‘A major deciding factor in selecting Iken was finding a company with a proven track record of delivering specialist efficiency software to our sector. Iken case management is used widely by in-house police legal teams across the UK, so we knew that it would sit easily around our existing working practices.’
Iken was also chosen to facilitate easier collaborative working with neighbouring Devon & Cornwall Police and South Wales & Gwent Police forces in the future, whose legal teams also use Iken.
As well as providing case management, the Iken framework will be used to develop a bespoke civil litigation workflow to define and standardise current processes, delivering consistency and helping with the efficient generation of step-by-step documentation.
