HAMMOND Suddards' capture of Gouldens partner Christopher Parkinson looks set to be a big step in the national firm's bid to build a top media practice.Parkinson, known for his work on movies such as Kenneth Branagh's Henry V and the award-winning Leon the Pig Farmer, will take an impressive client portfolio with him when he switches firms next week.He is also likely to take an assistant with him.Gouldens' managing partner Max Thorneycroft said his firm would cease the specialised film work Parkinson was identified with.Parkinson, who pioneered the media practice during his 10 years at Gouldens, had been approached by a number of other firms but turned them down for what he called a "broad-based" practice."What I saw when I went to Hammond Suddards was an enthusiasm and excitement in the eyes of the people there which I haven't seen for a while," he said.Brian Eagles, Hammonds' head of media law, said:"We are determined to build a media team with singular talent and experience. Chris's hands-on approach will bring a unique level of understanding."Max Thorneycroft, managing partner at Gouldens, said that James Campbell would replace Parkinson as head of media."In other areas of media such as telecommunications, we are certainly building."
