Renting an office at the Cannes film festival has paid off for Theodore Goddard.
For the fifth year running, a team of five lawyers from the City firm's media and entertainment group, headed by consultant Keith Cousins, were at the festival. During their stay they drew up financing deals for five new films (three European and two American) and distribution deals for others.
Partner Mark Westaway acted as production solicitor for Mike Leigh's Secrets and Lies and was at the winners' ceremony to witness the film scoop the Palme D'Or award.
"We find it pays to be on the spot and taking a pro-active role," said Cousins.
