Finnish firm Castrén & Snellman has elected two new partners after losing one to a general counsel position at a listed real estate company.
Anu Kaisko and Tapio Teräkivi are both currently associates at the firm and will join the partnership at the start of the next financial period in February 2012.
Partner Anu Tuomola has resigned to take a position as general counsel at Finnish real estate company Citycon. She will also be a member of the company’s corporate management committee.
Teräkivi advises institutional investors, real estate developers and industrial companies in real estate transactions. He will take Tuomola’s place as head of the firm’s real estate transactions practice.
Kaisko deals with domestic and international client companies in a range of employment legislation issues. She is also the head of Castrén & Snellman’s employment expertise group.
Managing partner Pauliina Tenhunen said the firm did not previously have an employment partner so this was the best time to rectify that.
These appointments bring the firm’s partnership to 30.
Tenhunen added that she was pleased to hear about Tuomola’s new role: “This is a wonderful opportunity for her and speaks volumes about the respect that the abilities of our young partners have gained in the eyes of our clients. Naturally we’re sorry to lose such a skilled colleague.”
