US firm Latham & Watkins' London office acted for Japanese trading company Nissho Iwai Corporation on a number of oil-backed financings completed in the Republic of Angola. The credit facilities, totalling £224m, will be advanced to Sociedade Nacional de Combustiveis de Angola - Sonangol UEE to finance the development of crude oil production in the country. Lathams' London head of finance and projects David Miles was assisted by associate Phillip Slater on the deal. Sociedade Nacional was represented by Norton Rose.
