Field Fisher Waterhouse (FFW) advised iconic toy shop Hamleys on a franchising deal that will see it open stores in Dubai, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The deal is Hamleys' first franchise. It will be run by Daud Investments, part of the Middle East-based Getco Group of companies, which hold the Middle East franchises for brands including McDonald's and Yo! Sushi. The contract will see the first store open in Dubai in autumn 2007. FFW devised the structure for the deal as well as drafting the documentation for the shops in all three jurisdictions. FFW head of franchising and licensing Mark Abel advised Hamleys. Daud Investments was advised in-house.
