  • I can understand the sound business reasons for the defererrals, but the money being offered is too little. Currently, firms pay more than this as a maintenance grant for students studying for the LPC, as well as their course fees. Where money is being offered to vary contracts, it should be closer to 50% salary.

  • As a very general rule of thumb, training contracts are notoriously difficult to come by and are fought over at all levels of qualification. However, in a climate where good candidates in all professions are out of work, why would anyone think that a training contract deferral would be worth 50% of salary? Experienced professionals at all levels are unable to get ANY salary... someone being done the huge favour of being offered a training contract should just be grateful to have it on the back burner and get a job stacking shelves in a supermarket for a year. It's not like a graduate has high financial outgoings, like, say a father of three with a mortgage!
