FerradaNehme has opened a representative office in London, becoming the first Chilean firm to do so.

The office is headed by managing associate Carolina Werner and specialises in regulation and antitrust matters.

Werner said the plan was to strengthen ties with UK firms and provide a flow of work back to Chile. The office could expand if successful.

“Within one year or more we might open a full legal office,” said Werner. “We want to build a network of new clients, but first we have to see how things are. It’s a start.”

The firm was set up in 2000 and now has 50 employees in Santiago. Werner is the only lawyer in the City Point office at the moment, but the firm plans to send more people to London from its Chilean base.
