Female lawyers are top on stress scale

Female lawyers are more stressed than their male counterparts, enjoy less leisure hours and value time over money, a survey conducted by Barclays Private Clients has revealed.

But they also expect to earn more at the peak of their careers than male lawyers do.
Female lawyers hope to earn, on average, £235,000 a year at the height of their careers. Their male counterparts aspire to a maximum salary of just £179,000.

A female lawyer enjoys only 1.6 hours of leisure time on weekdays, while male lawyers have an hour longer

The survey found that, on average, a female lawyer enjoys only 1.6 hours of leisure time on weekdays, while male lawyers have an hour longer. It was also found that 77 per cent of female lawyers would rather have more time than more money, compared with just 49 per cent of male lawyers.
More than a third of female lawyers rate themselves as scoring 9 out of 10 on a personal stress scale. Male lawyers showed an average personal stress rating of 6 out of 10.
