Father and son return to the family practice

A FATHER and son team of commercial law partners are returning to the firm which bears their family name.

Peter Halliwell and his son Mark are leaving Lace Mawer to join Manchester neighbours Halliwell Landau.

Halliwell senior founded the Halliwell Landau practice more than 20 years ago; his son joined him and completed his articles there.

The pair joined Lace Mawer from Pickles Halliwell, which was their first family firm, by merging its commercial department with that of Halliwell Landau.

The Halliwells are seen as something of a double act and occupy neighbouring offices at Lace Mawer.

Both the Halliwells and Lace Mawer say that the departure is amicable. "We feel that we need to be with a bigger commercial department, and Halliwell Landau is growing," says Mark.

Lace Mawer says that it will retain a "strong and very active" commercial department and predicts expansion in the near future.

The Halliwells dropped all connections with Pickles Halliwell when they moved to Lace Mawer.
