Farrers leads regional firms on Age UK creation

Partners Anne-Marie Piper and Jo Coleman led a team of lawyers from across the UK advising newly formed charity Age UK. It was the first major cross-border merger under devolved charity laws.

Farrers coordinated teams from Edinburgh-based Turcan Connell, Belfast-based Cleaver Fulton Rankin and Geldards in Cardiff to advise on the transfer of the undertakings of the four Age ­Concern charities and the division and transfer of Help the Aged operations to new organisations - Age UK, Age Scotland, Age NI and Age Cymru.

The two charities were advised in-house, along with Stone King Sewell for Help the Aged, Bates Wells & Braithwaite for Age Concern England, Anderson Strathern for Age Concern Scotland and Elliott Duffy Garrett for Age Concern Northern Ireland.
