EY Law makes Moscow hire

Ernst & Young is cementing its commitment to providing legal services in Europe with the hire of Russian partner James Mandel from Salans to EY Law in Moscow.

Mandel, an of counsel at Salans in Russia, is a corporate lawyer was previously the managing partner of the Moscow office of Lebeouf Lamb Greene & MacRae.

Like the rest of the big four accountancy firms’ legal offerings, EY Law has not been immune to regulatory problems elsewhere in Europe.

Last November EY’s tied firm in Germany, EY Law Luther Menold, hived off half of its Stuttgart office to comply with German rules on auditor independence, leaving 20 lawyers and notaries to form a new firm.
