THE FIRST exhibition of expert witnesses has been hailed as a success by its organisers.
'The Expert witness event' was held last week at the City's Barbican centre. It attracted over 1,800 visitors in two days. Of these "a high proportion" were from the legal world, says organisers Truemist.
Keith Searby, of Truemist, says: "We are very satisfied with the attendance, which was very good for a first time show." Over half the available space for next year's event has already been sold, he adds.
Michael Cohen, chair of the Academy of Experts, a sponsor of the event, says the academy received hundreds of enquiries about membership.
"Unusually for exhibitions, the seminar programmes were fully booked and people were turned away," he says.
However, reservations were expressed by some exhibitors.
Julia Ambler, of London accountants Littlejohn Frazer, comments: "I am not sure exactly at whom the event was aimed. If it had been held nearer the Temple area, perhaps more lawyers would have dropped in."
Richard Lewis, of accountants Kidsons Impey, says: "We would have liked to see more lawyers there."
