TWO FORMER partners of merged City firm Turner Kenneth Brown were appointed to new jobs last week.
Richard Harrison joins commercial practice Laytons and Sarah Stowell moves to Bircham & Co, the Westminster-based private client and charity firm, both as partners.
TKB joined forces with Nabarro Nathanson in May to form a new practice under the existing Nabarros name.
Harrison left at the time of the merger and has spent the intervening period considering offers. He says he chose Laytons because he liked the size of the firm and its approach. He will concentrate on expanding its litigation work.
“I think there is room for a manageable-sized firm with national and international capabilities and good use of information technology. This is what I have found at Laytons,” he says.
Richard Kennett, Laytons' managing partner, says Harrison is “a natural appointment” to make. “He will complement strongly our existing corporate and commercial teams.”
Stowell, who was a partner with Lawrence Messer before TKB, will concentrate on inheritance tax planning for individuals and estates and charities.
Birchams has also snapped up assistant solicitor Sally Wilkins from Taylor Joynson Garrett for its private client department. She specialises in capital taxes planning.
Simon Weil, private client head at Birchams, says: “We continue to expand our team, once again recruiting from the City, and we are very pleased to have found lawyers of their calibre.”
