Ex-Freshfields boss Salz joins Rothschild

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s former senior partner Anthony Salz has joined independent investment banking group Rothschild.

Salz who retired as Freshfields’ joint senior partner in March 2006 after 30 years with the magic circle firm, has also been appointed to the board of NM Rothschild & Son Limited.

Following Salz’s election as senior partner in 1996 he steered Freshfields through its landmark mergers with Deringer Tessin Herrmann & Sedemund and then with Bruckhaus Westrick Heller Lober in 2000.

Salz was appointed vice chairman of the BBC in 2004 and will stand down from the position at the end of the year.

He will be based in Rothschild’s London office.
