Moves by a former councillor - who was removed from office following allegations relating to unfair property dealings but was later cleared of the allegations - to sue the council over the impact the matter had on his reputation are being considered by the Law Lords. They have adjourned an application by Terence Gregory for leave to appeal the earlier striking out of his claim to give the council an opportunity to object to his moves. Gregory was elected in 1983 but in 1988 was removed from office. In February 1990 the Special Committee findings against him which led to his removal were quashed by the High Court.
