Ex-CC Schwarz takes the helm at Linklaters TMT group

Linklaters telecoms specialist Tim Schwarz is to replace Christopher Millard as global head of the firm’s technology, media and telecoms group, effective 1 May 2006.

Millard, best known for his expertise in data protection, has been head of the TMT group since 2002 and plans to resume a purely fee-earning role.

Linklaters scored a major coup when it recruited Schwarz in 2004 from Clifford Chance. He is best known as an emerging markets telecoms expert, advised on projects in the Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe, Asia, the Caribbean and Latin America, as well as the UK.

Schwarz also spent two years as the World Bank’s main telecoms lawyer in Washington DC.

Linklaters’ global TMT group consists of 10 partners and around 75 lawyers and counts BT, Celtel and Vodafone among its core telecoms clients.
