Eversheds sues former client for £160K owed

Eversheds has launched a legal battle against a former client for almost £160,000 in unpaid fees.

The firm claims its former client Cordant Group - a facilities company formerly called Securiplan - owes Eversheds ;a ;total ;of £157,395. The firm is also suing for £6,968 in interest at a daily rate of £34.49.

According to the claim form, Eversheds invoiced Cordant for £145,337 on 27 October 2006 and for £72,222 a month later - a total of £217,559.

The Middlesex-based business paid the firm more than £60,000, but according to the claim has avoided paying the rest. Eversheds' claim states that the firm was compelled to sue after giving Cordant ample time to pay up and sending out two letters requesting settlement of the outstanding bill.

Eversheds confirmed it has filed proceedings, but would not comment on them. No one from Cordant was available for comment.
