Eversheds has scored a major coup for its fraud team with the hire of Serious Fraud Office (SFO) deputy director Peter Kiernan as a partner.
Kiernan, who joins Eversheds in January, will work alongside fraud head Gerallt Owen, a recruit from Orchard Solicitors in August 2004.
The hire is designed to complement the firm’s existing defence practice. While at the SFO Kiernan worked on cases such as Barings, and was solicitors to the Butterfield Inquiry into HM Customs & Excise Investigations and Prosecutions.
Owen told The Lawyer that there has been “significant” work coming into the group since its establishment. “Peter brings a different dimension to it,” he added.
Kiernan will be based in both Eversheds’ London and Cardiff offices.
