Eversheds Paris: female partners multiplying
Eversheds female promotions may be down this year but it's nothing to do with the traditional 'oh, she'll just leave when she gets pregnant' reasoning, says new partner Valérie Blandeau.
And Blandeau should know. The Paris-based employment and disputes partner, already a mother of a three-year old, is due her second child in October.
"All this talk of diversity doesn't really have an impact on who becomes partner," she says.
"It's not dependent on whether you're a man or woman, it's on what that man or woman can bring to the firm."
The Paris litigation group has grown by 30 per cent two years in a row, she adds, and "this is something I will hope to be continuing."
And this time next year when Blandeau's home will be ringing with the patter of (more) tiny feet, other female associates may hope to follow in her footsteps.
