Eversheds partner Martin Issitt has been appointed head of corporate, taking over from David Gray who has become the managing partner for Leeds and Manchester.
Issitt, who joined Eversheds as a corporate partner in 1994, will continue to be involved in a transactional role but will also be responsible for managing the corporate group's 200 lawyers.
Recent activity in the corporate department includes work for DuPont, Invensys, TRW Lucas Varity and the acquisition of Rover by the Phoenix Consortium.
The firm has also advised on flotations for TeleCity, IQE and TeleWork, which were worth over £300m each.
Issitt hopes to unleash new potential and is looking towards pooling resources in the corporate department. He says that his new role provides a platform from which he can develop the firm's client base.
