Eversheds keeps South Central rail deal on track

Eversheds advised the Department for Transport on its £534m South Central rail franchise, which has been awarded to Dickinson Dees client Southern Railways.

Eversheds partner Mark Brunton led on the deal, which will see South Central provide services on the London to Brighton and Gatwick Express route.
Dickinson Dees’ partner David Rewcastle advised Southern Railways.

The deal will also see key improvements to suburban services, such as longer trains during peak times and more trains on popular routes.

Brunton said: “This particular franchise has a number of different elements. The impact of the Thameslink development, in particular the redevelopment of London Bridge, has made quite a difference to the deal. It’s one of the more detailed franchise deals because of this.”

Eversheds has advised the Department for Transport since 2005 on a range of rail franchise deals.
