Eversheds has beaten off competition from at least three law firms to be appointed as the sole adviser on employment for electrical goods retailer Comet Group
The firm was invited to pitch despite the employment group having no previous relationship with Comet. Partners Owen Warnock and Peter Norbury led the pitch and have since set up teams in Cambridge and Leeds respectively. Warnock said Comet was impressed with the firm's commercial approach and its geographical spread. "The teams in Cambridge and Leeds will carry out the general work, but we'll use other local teams for employment tribunals," he commented. Cambridge will look at issues arising in South England and Wales, while Leeds will take care of Scotland and the North of England.
