The former head of Eversheds’ Nordic practice has joined Danish transactional firm Danders & More as a partner and head of banking and finance.
Troels Askerud, founder and former managing partner of Eversheds’ Copenhagen office, will work out of London alongside senior partner Anders Hansen.
Explaining the move, Hansen said that to facilitate work streams into Scandinavia Danders needs someone with international experience who understands the market and the Nordic region.
“We believe that the Scandinavian market is increasingly attractive to international law firms and private equity, which is the main part of our business,” he added.
Askerud announced his departure from Eversheds in 2010 (15 October 2010) and has used the time since to look at various opportunities.
“I’ve followed Danders & More over the years, and the business they’ve built and the client base they’ve attracted cannot but leave me impressed,” he said.
“Danders & More is the only firm solely focused on transactional work and litigation in the Nordic region and as my career has always been focused on international clients and their transactions, in particular clients out of the London market and into the Nordic region, I could find no better platform than this to realise the full potential of each and every one of my global contacts.”
The opening of Danders’ London office in the beginning of 2011 also spurred on Askerud’s decision to join the firm.
”With the opening of an office in London as a window for inbound transactional work to the Nordic region, the choice was a no brainer,” he added.
The news follows Danders’ merger with Copenhagen transaction boutique NSR Advokatfirma in 2010 (31 August 2010).
In 2006 the firm completed its second transition, separating from Osborne Clarke’s European alliance and changing its name from Osborne Clark Denmark to Danders & More (4 September 2006).
Hansen had previously integrated his firm Pedersen & Jantzen into the Osborne Clarke network in 2000.
Danders is an internationally focused firm providing advice within the areas of corporate and financial transactions, as well as litigation and arbitration. The firm’s clients include Blackstone, Doughty Hanson, Triton, Warburg Pincus, Barclays Capital and Altor.
