Eversheds’ clients enhance billing system

Eversheds has launched the second phase of a project management system that was inspired by becoming engineering conglomerate Tyco’s sole legal provider.

News of the second stage of the Global Account Management System (Gams) has created interest from 14 new clients, with three already signed up and pharmaceutical company Stiefel Laboratories currently piloting the scheme.

Gams II, like its predecessor, gives in-house counsel control over billing, with work by Eversheds only allowed to be carried out once it has been authorised.
The system goes further than the first version in that it provides clients with an analysis of where they can look to improve their legal processes.

Senior associate Diana Newcombe, who along with integration officer Stephen Hopkins runs Gams II, said the original Gams was ­created to the Tyco agenda, but that the second version was built to have sufficient flexibility for all clients.

“Gams II is a tool for the economic downturn,” said Newcombe. “It charts the trends within how deals and cases progress and sees how the process can be improved to cut down costs.”

The full launch of Gams II later this month will also see six of Eversheds current clients, including Boeing, Brady and Tyco, that use the original Gams migrate to the new system.
