More time with the wife
David Gray's ambition to spend more time with his wife sounds idyllic. The only concern is whether anyone has asked his wife how she feels about the idea? It is just possible that she has a busy life of her own and hadn't banked on him suddenly becoming the central focus of it...
Good luck to them both!

How the world has changed...
It is interesting that only a few years ago this would have seemed like throwing one's career down the drain, as it were.
Could his resignation be perhaps because of other reasons? Perhaps he feels he has gotten as much out of Eversheds as he possibly can (after all he is the Chief!).

is the grass always greener on the other side?
as they say " he'll be back" someone that is used to that much power and success wont be able to give that up!
