Eversheds bags trio of transport deals

Eversheds has acted for the Department for Transport on three rail franchise deals in as many weeks. The East Midlands passenger rail franchise deal closed on 20 June, with successful bidder Stagecoach being represented by Herbert Smith, led by partner Adrian Clough. The West Midlands franchise was closed the next day, with winning bidder Govia, a joint venture between the Go-Ahead Group and Keolis, represented by Dickinson Dees, led by partner David Rewcastle. The Cross Country passenger rail franchise was awarded on 10 July to Arriva, represented by Osborne Clarke. The Eversheds team was led by commercial partners Anne Harris and Mark Brunton. Harris said: “Given the amount of remapping and the interfaces between the transactions, the procurement process was complex. However, all three deals were signed up within the timescales the department had established.”
