This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Eversheds and Irwin Mitchell are the only two law firms to scoop a ranking in Business in the Community’s (BITC) 2012 Corporate Responsibility Index, which manages and measures the effectiveness of businesses’ social responsibility activities.
Eversheds maintained its 2011 gold ranking in the index alongside other well-known businesses such as Barclays, Camelot UK Lotteries and Imperial Tobacco Group.
Irwin Mitchell also maintained its 2011 silver ranking alongside household names such as Fujitsu, Siemens and Balfour Beatty. The firm’s score in the index rose for the fourth consecutive year.
Alan Meredith, corporate social responsibility partner at Eversheds, said: “For the past decade the BITC Corporate Responsibility Index has benchmarked companies based on their approach to responsible business, both within the business and in their external communities.
“We strive to continuously improve the effectiveness of our support to the communities in which we operate and to improve our responsible business practices.”
Irwin Mitchell group chief executive John Pickering commented: “Our people’s commitment to their community sees them taking part in a range of activities, from volunteering in the community, encouraging and communicating green ideas within the firm or offering pro-bono advice. Everyone at Irwin Mitchell has again worked hard to both improve and increase the firm’s social responsibility efforts.
