After the outstanding success of The Lawyer European Awards 2009, we once again turn our attention to recognising the achievements of law firms based on the Continent.
Last year saw hundreds of lawyers from more than 25 countries attend a glittering ceremony in Barcelona (see story).
This year the awards travel to Berlin where, on 23 September, Europe’s finest lawyers will gather to celebrate the most outstanding work in the industry over the previous 12 months.
This year sees the addition of two new awards: Law Firm Network of the Year and Emerging Law Firm of the Year.
The former focuses on the important work of law firm referral networks, celebrating the value they provide for their members in this vast market.
The latter, Emerging Law Firm of the Year, recognises firms that have clearly demonstrated their potential and outperformed their size, through their mandates, performance and strategy.
A standard entry form with set fields has also been added to ensure consistent entries and a fair playing field for all firms.
A panel of judges, including well travelled managing partners at private practice firms and in-house counsel at multinational companies, will once again aid the selection process.
I wish all this year’s entrants success and encourage smaller firms from smaller markets to enter - winners are by no means based on the size of their firm. Every entry in scrutinised by the same criteria and it's quality, not quantity, that will win the top prizes.
Good luck.
