Central & Eastern Europe
Czech firm Kocián Šolc Balaštík (KSB) has appointed Dagmar Dubecká as its new managing partner, replacing Martin Šolc. Šolc previously led KSB from its foundation in 1990 and will spend his time fee-earning and working with the International Bar Association. Dubecká sits on the firm’s management committee alongside Petr Kasík and Pavel Dejl.
White & Case has strengthened its Paris white collar crime team with the hire of Salans partner Ludovic Malgrain (15 February 2012). Malgrain’s appointment brings the number of partners in White & Case’s French contentious team to four, and the number in the Paris office to 31. Malgrain joined Salans from Morgan Lewis in January last year.
Eversheds has hired Norton Rose lawyer Ramu Ramaswamy as counsel in its Paris office. Ramaswamy specialises in oil and gas transactions. He spent four years at Norton Rose, having joined the firm from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
French employment firm Fromont Briens has promoted one partner in Paris and two in Lyon. The three new partners, Julie Béot-Rabiot, Souade Bouchêne and Jérôme Bénéteau all began their careers at the firm. Their promotion brings the number of partners at Fromont Briens to 32.
Stehlin & Associés has announced the promotion of four lawyers to its partnership. Svetlana Tokoucheva and Cyrille Bouillot are both corporate lawyers, while employment lawyer Anne Grenaud and litigator Elise Weisselberg are also promoted.
Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek has hired IP lawyer Rainer Jacobs for its Düsseldorf office. Jacobs was previously a sole practitioner. He is an honorary professor of civil law, particularly IP and copyright law, at the University of Cologne,
Osborne Clarke Spain has launched in Madrid with a five-partner team from local independent Lener in a move that almost doubles the size of the firm (21 February 2012). The five partner recruits are Rafael Montejo - who joins as office head - as well as David Sequera, Ángel García, Daniel Riopérez and Luis Castro.
Eversheds has appointed Justin McGettigan as head of its Dublin tax group. McGettigan joins Eversheds from McCann FitzGerald Solicitors where he practised corporate tax law.
US firm Winston & Strawn has hired Norton Rose finance partner Andrei Yakovlev to strengthen its Russian practice (10 February 2012). Yakovlev will split his time between Winston & Strawn’s London and Moscow offices, as he did while at Norton Rose.
Russian firm Lidings has hired corporate lawyer Stepan Guzey as counsel in Moscow. Prior to joining Lidings Guzey worked was a senior associate at firms including Vegas Lex and Hellevig Klein & Usov.
