Investment house ETF Securities has ramped up its legal team with the hire of Nomura International vice president Charles Carvell.
Carvell, who before Nomura was a solicitor at Dechert for six years, joins ETF as a senior lawyer.
Graham Tuckwell, chairman of ETF Securities, said Carvell's appointments was a direct response to the growth in investor demands for exchange traded commodities.
Tuckwell said: "Following our development and listings of ETCs covering physical, classic, forward, leveraged and short ETCs, and the resulting significant growth in assets under management, we are continuing to expand the team."
Carvell is ETF's first significant hire since Feargal Dempsey became the investment house's head of legal last summer. Dempsey, who joined from Barclays Global Investors where he was head of product design, was brought in to revamp the legal and product teams.
Carvell is the second loss for Nomura's legal team since last November, when Jones Day hired Andrew Chen, who was a director and head of the Japanese bank's debt capital markets legal team.
