Estonia’s Glikman and Alvin Rödl join forces

Estonian law firms Glikman & Partnerid and Alvin Rödl & Partner have announced their decision to merge to form Law Firm Glikman Alvin & Partners.

The merger will bring the new firm’s headcount to over 40 lawyers split across its offices in Tallinn and Jõhvi. The firm’s combined turnover will exceed €4m, making it one of the largest law firms in Estonia, according to a firm spokesperson.

Glikman & Partnerid is the Estonia office of Baltic Legal Solutions, a pan-Baltic firm with offices in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

The announcement comes as a number of independent firms look to boost their offering across the Baltic region. Earlier this week Baltic firm Varul revealed it was reopening an office in Latvia following a merger with local Riga outfit BDO Zelmenis & Liberte (8 January 2013).

Other firms such as Triniti (7 December 2011) and Lawin (27 September 2011) have also recognised the benefits of formally merging with other offices across the Baltics.

Commenting on the news, partner Leon Glikman highlighted the benefits of the two firms joining forces: “Both our firms were among the oldest in Estonia, while our current and future potential partners include several outstanding attorneys from younger generations. The market needs highly specialised top attorneys with long-term experience, which requires a large multifunctional firm.”
