Establishment Rewards Law’s Leading Lights

The New Year’s Honours List has yielded glowing results for the legal sector including a CBE for Simmons & Simmons’ senior partner.

Janet Gaymer, Simmon’s senior partner since 2001 and a leading employment expert, has been awarded the honour for her work as Chair of the Employment Tribunal System Taskforce.

The taskforce was established just over two years ago to make recommendations to the Government on improving the Employment Tribunal system for its users.

Also on this year’s Honour’s List was Allen & Overy partner and head of its pro bono initiative David Mackie QC. Mackie was awarded on an CBE for services to legal pro bono work.

Other legal figures included were last year’s Lord Mayor of London, Gavyn Arthur QC of Harcourt Chambers, and David Clementi, Secretary of State of the Department for Constitutional Affairs. Both received a knighthood.
