Shaun Pye reportsEnterprise Chambers is going back to square one in its search for a chambers director after its chosen candidate turned down the job.The chancery set decided to appoint a chambers director last year, after consultation with BDO Stoy Hayward. It is seeking a director to oversee the clerking and general administration of the 21 tenants based in London and the seven based across its Leeds and Newcastle anexes. The one candidate, to which the field was reduced, was understood to be from the commercial world rather than the Bar. But she decided not to take the job.The chambers is said to be "slightly bemused" as to her reasons. Other sources suggest the sticking point was the salary, said to be £60,000.However, Barry Clayton, senior clerk at Enterprise Chambers, said that the salary was more than £60,000.He added: "The person did not turn us down. We just couldn't reach mutually agreeable terms."
