Benchmark
Turnover at EMW rose 8.8 per cent to £9.9m in the 2011–12 financial year.
While property continued to be the largest contributor to turnover, contributing 39 per cent, the firm is also building on its expertise in other areas with several significant client wins.
EMW was reappointed to the Santander UK legal panel in 2010, which chairman Ian Morris identifies as a key reason for the firm’s growth last year. The firm was also reappointed to Barclays’ legal roster, winning spots on its lending and finance and fiduciary law sub-panels. In addition, the firm took on a number of healthcare specialists from rival Harvey Ingram to boost its expertise in this sector.
A flurry of lateral hires, including Nick Marshall, who joined the firm from Mayer Brown as head of real estate, and Allan Reason, who joined the firm from Lester Aldridge as head of dispute resolution, has helped to strengthen both departments in the firm’s London office.
The firm has an office in Milton Keynes and acquired its London office through the merger with London international corporate boutique Picton Howell in 2008. It has 12 lawyers in London and is scheduled to move into larger premises in 2013.
