Employment

Employment law is in a state of flux. There has been an onslaught of employment legislation, such as the new age discrimination laws and the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) (Tupe) rules.

Former Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer restructuring head Peter Bloxham, now a policyholder advocate at Prudential, is gearing up for an age discrimination tribunal bout with his former firm at the beginning of July. Meanwhile, Freshfields’ former co-head of litigation Jo Rickard is poised to sue the firm over the restrictive covenant in her pension.

Other issues are coming to a head. This Employment Special Report examines the impact the smoking ban will have on employers and their workers.

The report also considers the complexities of employment law as more businesses increasingly go global. It also examines whether carers are being discriminated against by association.
