EMI reshuffles senior global legal positions

Media giant EMI is reorganising its legal function with three new appointments to the management.

Gareth Hopkins is becoming senior vice-president for legal and business affairs for EMI International, reporting to Shelagh MacLeod, the senior vice-president of worldwide legal and business affairs for EMI Recorded Music.

In the newly-created role he will take over the specific responsibility for Japan and Australia, as well as being responsible for non-US anti-trust work. He will also be the main contact for matters concerning The Beatles.

At the same time, Susan Feingold takes over as senior vice-president for legal and business affairs in North America. She has been promoted from head of business affairs at Virgin Records America, which has since merged with EMI.

And finally, Mandy Payne is promoted to vice-president for legal and business affairs concerning new media at EMI Recorded Music in Europe. She will be responsible for new European media agreements.
