Music giant EMI general counsel Charles Ashcroft has stepped down from his role after 10 years in the company’s top legal position.
Ashcroft was replaced by Chris Ancliff, formerly associate general counsel, last month (January) due to health reasons.
Ancliff has been tasked with heading EMI’s legal affairs group, reporting directly to chief executive Eric Nicoli. He will also take on a communications role as government relations officer.
Ashcroft remains in his role as EMI company secretary. He told The Lawyer: “It has been a period of non-stop excitement and challenge, as the music industry business model undergoes huge change in the transition from physical to digital products."
