ELEVEN King's Bench Walk is taking on Simon Mehigan QC in an attempt to boost the chambers' confidence and commercial fraud practice.
The move brings to an end Mehigan's 18-year tenancy at 5 Paper Buildings.
"I have been with Paper Buildings man and boy, and my natural inclination is against change," says Mehigan.
"But King's Bench Walk made me an offer I couldn't refuse."
Mehigan's decision may have been influenced by his association with a group of 11 King's Bench Walk tenants he is collaborating with on a book on confidential information.
James Goudie, joint head of King's Bench Walk, says Mehigan's influence will cement the chambers' reputation.
"Having Simon as part of the team will further extend the group's ability to offer an immediate advocacy response for clients needing or being confronted with urgent injunctive relief," Goudie says.
"It will also increase our ability to offer specialist teams of counsel for heavyweight cases."
Mehigan recently acted for BP Amoco in a large industrial espionage case, and his commercial fraud skills are expected to make an exceptional fit with 11 King's Bench Walk's confidence practice.
