Denton Wilde Sapte is set to rebuild its partnership with 26 promotions after losing almost a fifth of its partners over the past two years.
Technology, media & telecoms (TMT), which notoriously lost 11 partners in one fell swoop to DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary in 2004, did not make up any lawyers, having promoted three during the past financial year.
Seven partners were added in banking and finance, traditionally a strong department for promotions, with at least one a year for each of the past three years.
Corporate also made up new partners, with four lawyers promoted, reflecting the firm’s plan to double the size and turnover of its corporate group over the next five years, as revealed by The Lawyer (17 April).
Real estate was another strong performer with four promotions, while energy and infrastructure and employment and pensions made up two partners apiece. One lawyer was promoted in dispute resolution.
The aforementioned 20 promotions were in London, with the firm’s international network securing the remaining six. Russia and Oman promoted two lawyers each, while Egypt and France made up one apiece.
