DWF launches risk and compliance team in Manchester

DWF has launched a risk and compliance team in Manchester, taking on Deborah Chrimes (far left) from Hammonds as head of the ­department.

LONDON

• Sharpe Pritchard has strengthened its ­construction team by promoting Annie Moy and Denise Stephenson to partner. Assistant Justin Mendelle also joins the team from

Macfarlanes.

• Mackrell Turner Garrett has hired Rebecca Howlett from RLS Solicitors. She joins the ­company commercial team as an assistant.

• Sarah Gogan has joined Mishcon de Reya as an assistant in the immigration group. She left Fransman Solicitors, where she was a partner, to take up the role.

• Patent and trademark specialist Withers & Rogers has made up four new partners: Rachel Wallis and Tania Clark in London, and David McWilliams and Russell Barton in the Midlands.

• European firm Miller Rosenfalck has added two new partners to its London office. Litigation partner Sanjive Haldankar joins from Freedman Green Dohkia, while John Kenneally joins from Beynon Nicholls.

SOUTH

• Thames Valley firm BP Collins has recruited private client partner Ian Newcombe as head of wills, trust and probate. He was previously with Dorset firm HGW Solicitors.

• Richard O’Hagan, a consultant at Beaconsfield firm Brittons Solicitors, has been appointed as acting secretary of the Committee on ­Publication Ethics, the academic equivalent of the Press Complaints Commission. 

SOUTH WEST

• Somerset firm Battens Solicitors has hired Peter Livingstone as a partner and head of the company commercial team. He leaves Clarke Willmott, where he was a partner.

MIDLANDS

• Leicester firm Spearing Waite has appointed Andrew Rowell as an employment partner. Rowell was previously with Nelsons.

NORTH

• Lancashire firm Napthens has recruited ­litigation assistant Kate Baker from Lopian ­Wagner Solicitors.

• Berrymans Lace Mawer has promoted 18 lawyers to associate, including 11 in Manchester, three in Birmingham and one each in Leeds, ­Liverpool, London and Stockton-on-Tees.

• Keoghs has appointed disease litigation expert Chris Phillips as a full-time consultant. He joins from Halliwells, where he was a partner.

• Beiten Burkhardt has reinforced its Brussels team with the hire of antitrust partner Dr Rainer Bierwagen. Prior to this he worked with Belgian firm Van Bael & Bellis.

• Italian employment specialist LabLaw has taken on associates Sirra Arnoldi from Vita Samory Fabrini & Associati, Chiara Perrone from Toffoletto e Soci and

Francesca Bussotti from Studio Legal Squassi & Associati. All three join LabLaw’s office in Milan .

• Dechert has appointed five European national partners, the salaried partner equivalent role for senior associates. They are corporate lawyers Olivia Gueguen and Anne-Laure

Marcerou and ­litigator Jacques Sivignon in Paris, Katja Heuterkes in the Munich corporate team, and financial service lawyer Antonios Nezeritis in ­Luxembourg.

ASIA AND MIDDLE EAST

• White & Case has promoted Sebastian Buss to local partner in the projects and asset finance group. He recently moved from London to the Singapore office.

US

• Litigation partner Linda Addison has been appointed as partner in charge of Fulbright

& Jaworski’s New York office. Addison succeeds William Bush, who is retiring from the firm to join BDT Capital Partners in Chicago. 

• Dewey & LeBoeuf has announced the hire of business solutions and governance partner Philip Abelson as a partner in its New York office. Prior to joining the firm, he was counsel at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.

• Corporate partner Daniel Mummery has joined Gibson Dunn & Crutcher’s Palo Alto Office as co-chair of the firm’s outsourcing transactions practice group. He was previously with Latham & Watkins.

• Hardwicke Building has announced the arrival of barrister John de Waal from ­Birmingham set St Philips Chambers. He will become a member the specialist property team led by Michelle Stevens-Hoare.
